I know it's super entry level, but it's a Strat and it should be good to learn on. My good friend gave it to me as a birthday gift. I need an amp, headphones, cables, etc. I plan on picking up Rocksmith for my PS3 and eventually taking some lessons.

Do you know anything about music? ie, notes, chords? if you don't, you need to start there. maybe read a few things on 'intro to music theory' searches.
If you know what a basic chord structure is, major vs minor tonalities, and so forth, it will make learning guitar much easier.
if you get that, learn 2 or 3 chords to start. I suggest D major, A major and G major as a first 3. You can play like 15000 songs with those 3 chords alone and are all different shapes, so it will build dexterity and muscle memory.
Next you'll be asking for pictures of manbutts......Post pics of you with the gear for max points!
Whoa!!! She's alive!!!Hey nick (and the every bodies), I like songsterr (website or app) and rocksmith on the PS. Mostly my advice is find some music you love and figure out why that is, then jam with it. I like to learn chords required to play songs I like and then figure out rhythm and strum or picking patterns required - I'm not big on solo beedly beedly stuff though.
