600 miles later.....

nothing is leaking, the clutch is mint and the car dynoed at 84whp, 84wtq.

What happened to this car being such a torque monster ? You make fun of Civics with THAT dyno slip ?!

-> Steve

they werent making fun of me last night.

i was at the new bedford mirage meet all day, and we went to the strip to cruise and watch the races. i was approached by a tacky fellow in a 4g d15b vtec swapped civic.... who coaxed me into racing. well, i handed him his ass by 1/2 a carlength. he was stock except for the swap.

the 2nd race i did was because this guy in an escort zx2 was talking shit. i handed him his ass by a carlength. he had intake and exhaust and automatic. oh well.

was it me or was it about 60mph you got up to by the end of that race? :lol:

"Stock except for the swap" = Lamest thing I've heard all day
"Escort ZX2 with exhaust and automatic" = "I can beat up on retarded kids all day long"

My eyes are rolling into the back of my head, this is that lame. Come on man, one day you're talking smack against built Neons, mine and Airjockie's Hondas, the Toyotas and now that you've got your parapilegic 84 hp run, you're sidelining it until some one calls you out and a cripple fight ensues ?

Sell that damned car.

-> Steve

No, seriously - Sell that f*cking car. I've been made lots of fun of for doing "obscure" buildups. I've been laughed at for building the CRX to where it is today, I've been laughed at for restoring a 1981 Celica. I've been laughed at for tracking a 1982 Supra. But in the end, my cars were a success. Your car isn't turning out that way, And for you to continue beating your head against a wall isn't going to make you feel any better when, that is IF the result is positive.

Under best circumstances, this car when it's done will be a giggle car. It's like putting a V8 in a Chevette. Yeah, people do it, but the result is still pure comedy. Under what your efforts have shown so far, this car is either so anemic from the get-go that you've taken over 100 hours under the hood, and countless dollars into making it what it is today - a Ford Escort ZX2 killer. Win or lose, this car will make you lose.

Get back to the 240 thing. You were good with that car, and it matched your skill well. You can either sink money into a worthwhile car with worthwhile results (Drift, Autocross, decent daily car) or you can putz around with this schiessewagen Mirage for years and still have nothing to show for it. It's like a battered wife continually clinging to her drunken husband because "Someday, he'll get better"

It won't get better. Bail out now, pilot !

well stock except for the swap is exactly what it is. d15b vtec is supposed to be what 130hp? idk. hardly cripple. same for the escort. doesnt that have a mazda motor in it?

ive hardly done any work under the hood except for the clutch and manifold swap. of course its not fast. as far as i know, its still faster than anything in yours or airjockies driveway. :) and it runs, well. your crx kicks ass. seriously.

i dont care for the 240sx. its junk, seriously. its nice to drive and all, but i got rid of it for a reason. not cuz it was an electrical bucket, but because i didnt want it. if i get another nissan its going to be a 200sx or an nx2000.

as i always say, laugh at the car all you guys like. its my car, and im doing things with it. it may not be the best choice or best platform but that isnt going to sway me. one thing that is for certain is that the car will be turbocharged over the winter hell or high water. this car has been my gift. i havent wrecked it, nor had any major problems.

hate on it all you like. kthx.

wait... your saying your car is faster than the Z? The '86? :huh:

I'll race ya...

In my blazer. :) :slap:

or the civic... And I'll give ya 5 cars...

and the jump.

and i'll start in 2nd. :) :kick:

the Z isnt fast, and the 86 is dead. again. :sad:

Well....Chris does have a point.....He hasn't wrecked it yet. ;)

And thats the only point I see. Since I've known him, he was going thru cars left and right...now he has a car that has kept him on the road for a little more than a year. And thats a good thing. Sadly...it's a slow car...sorry Chris...it just is. And that's why he hasn't wrecked it :lol: . He mentioned a year ago that he bought the car as a joke....and I got the joke and I was hopeing he would just sell it to a Grandma that would put the car to good use...but he has stuck with it, and made some improvements....so I give him prop's on that. If he turbo's it, or makes it faster...then I fear he will wreck it. :sad:

After a week or so...the Z will be fast as fuck...and the AE86 just might have to wait for more parts or something....

And the CRX is getting an engine in a few weeks...so fear the little red car once again..... :lol:

Faster than anything in my driveway ? Are you sure you wanna play that card ?

Ok, you hated the 240. I had the NX2000, and outside of being fast and sexy it was also a ... I love how you put it ... Electrical Bucket. Same of the 200SX and the such. What you'll need to learn, as I have, is that Nissan is the Ford of Japan.

I'm laughing at your car, but not you. Yeah, you've made honest improvements, but like I said - Slapping all this effort and getting 84 hp results is just... I dunno... I feel like you're wasting MY time its so lame. Step up to the 200SX, the NX2000 (Same car, if you're talking about similar gens, you know that the 1983 200SX is my #1 dream car, but when they went FWD they went downhill) and make your money go farther. Then you'll grin and ignore Ford ZX2s, 130hp Hondas and be able to make claims against Airjockie's and my cars.

I've owned 4 200SXs (1982, 1983, 1987 V6 and 1987 NAPSZ) and while they handle well, they are still shitbox cars that roast rotors every 9 months. As was my NX2000, which compiled those problems with the horrendous 5th-gear-pop-out and and motor-mount appetite. Cheesy interior, electrical bugs at 15k miles and still a penchant to entirely consume a brake rotor here and there STILL made it a complete roach.

-> Steve

what are you talking about? does that formula thing run?

touché. my finesse would be a FWD 200sx se or a nx2000.

sorry guys. i love my car. my love for the evo3 will never get any closer unless i find a sedan which is damn near impossible. im in the process of buying another 4g coupe, with a sedan front end conversion AND a totalled 91 gsx (from the rear) for 3500. i think that would make the mirage more formidable, considering i could front the evo front bumper/hood/headlights. decent winter project.

Formula = GONZO. I'm a Toyota man now. I ripped the entire front end out of the Firebird last week. Like, seperated it from the car. I have designs on a free engine for a Celica project, but I'm still checking out performance options for the GM 4.8 V8.

oops, did I say that ?

probably.
