22s or some classy old school baby moons. If it wouldn't be 'offensive' (I don't know how private you are with this stuff) but can we get a round about +/- bare minimum that you've spent on this to get it in operating, not necessarily perfect condition?

Thanks man! I'll update as I start to actually build. I thought of 22s. There are a lot of them for sale on craigslist for CHEAP. Otherwise like 92stoc says, painted steelies with moons and whitewalls.

What are you asking? It is in pieces.

The truck was $600. That is all I have spent so far. Are you asking how much I plan on spending? Fuck I have no idea.

hell u could try stuffing 2 footaz under there for the shock factor. what are ya gonna get your front suspension stuff off of (control arms and such)?

Probably a 97-03 F150. It is burly and probably relatively cheap. I like the fact that they are truck partsand that I can tweak the geometry if I need to. It is also rack steering which is really the only way to go.

It will be fun to plot some shit out to adjust IC and RC and castor/camber and play with the rack to get different Ackermanns. I'm excited.

I just sat down with my father in law (MS in Mathematics from Princeton btw) to get a handle on some of the trig I'm using for design. Good shit.

I mean when you're finished with it, you said you wanna do it as cheap as possible. I'm curious to see how cheaply it can be done.

Oh right sorry. Geez man I'm not sure. It's kind of already getting out of hand in my mind. We'll see where reality and fantasy converge and that will be the number.

very interested in seeing how this pans out.
update often and post pics. i could never take on a project this big. it would never get finished.

also, i moved this to the other vehicle forum, left a perm redirect from the lounge.

wow dude, epic fucking resto

someone should change the thread title to " '57 ford project" or something so the thread title stands out from the other threads a little better. this thing will be great.

Thanks guys.

More update:

Leveled everything up, rechecked the X measure, and finally severed ties with the rear clip:

Cleaned things up and added a very temporary diagonal brace:

I have a mountain of reference measurements so, using those, I clamped this piece of 2x3 box inside the frame rail, leveled that up, and used steel wire to rough in the frame rail curvature:

Here's a better idea of where I'm going. I'm using 2x5 .188 wall box tubing. As you may have noticed, the angle toward the front is steeper and then tapers off gradually after the bend toward the rear of the frame.

Did more cleaning, removed more shit, and added another temporary angle brace:

Here's a sloppy weld I did on one of the diagonal braces:

That's pretty much it for now. I'm going to try to have my rails bent and then integrated into he frame this week. I'm itching to move on to the 4 link.

Probably not blasting. I'm rebuilding the front clip with IFS so there will really only be two 4 foot straight sections of the old frame left. I can clean it up with a wire wheel and metal sanding discs.

I'm gonna shoot my blasting load on the body. There is a handful of cancer that needs to be addressed and i really want it to be solid and smooth.

Chassis first though.

ah yeah on second look it does look like a wirefeed.. the dimple in the puddle at the end is kind of a giveaway.

I don't need to. I am front and back halving. The body already hangs below the frame from the factory. I have to flatten the rockers or body lift it to get it to actually lay frame lol
