You are lifting the motor up for clearance when dumped right? Will you have issues with the trans and the cab?

It's been lifted. I will have to build a new trans tunnel. The cab had none because the engine was seated so low before. Now it will just kind of look like a regular late model truck.

Thanks. I'm not sure if it is apparent in the pictures but the motor and trans are raised WAAAAAY higher than factory, like 5". I'm hoping to have to cut my hood out to account for how far it sticks up lol.

If you look at the old pictures, the motor was set way down in the bay, like 12" below the hood line.

It does sit a little high but will look awsome when its done and the motor is up above the hood when dropped on its nuts...

Indeed. It's not a bad thing and only really effects the theoretical center of gravity but when you consider that the ride height will be more than a foot lower than factory, I think I still come out ahead. Simple math really...5-12=-7. So the majority of my weight is 7" closer to the ground than it was before.

Also, the twin I-beams have a pretty low roll center so the shift in weight shouldn't be problematic.

Took some glamour shots tonight:

That should give you more of an idea of how fucking low this thing really is. That is a 27" tall tire.

This is my favorite:

Also, took the 9er apart so I can use the housing to build off of. The fluid that came out of it was as black and as thick as crude. It was disgusting...probably hadn't been changed in 20 years, which is ok because it's a 9er. Here's the bare housing:

I start building rear suspension on Monday. I'm fucking pumped.

I hate rear end fluid.....nasty smell.....period. 20+ years old.....ugh.

You thought about tire size/style yet?

I have thought about it. I will be able to lay over 24s with rubber bands.

Otherwise, as far as the finer points of engineering the system and the gearing and final drive and blah blah blah, no I haven't really.

Just my $0.02.......I like the thought of 18's in the rear and 17's int he front with a 55 or 60 series with a white wall. But thats where my "likes" are right now. I like the slightly bigger wheel with a white wall. But I can see 24's.......oh boy thats a whole lot of wheel!

Those look good but I don't think I would like them on a vehicle I own..
