hey guys what do you think about me gettin a srt-4 the 04s have lsd and more power the 03s made 215 crank but many stock dynoed 223 and some have even dynoed at 248. Anyway they are easy to mod have a good motor and make alot of torque. I would deff get a black one.. I wish they came in white though. Also payment isnt that much either they cost around 21k. So give me some thoughts

The SRT-4 doesn't have the Neon moniker associated with it, the fact that it has basically the same body is the only real similarity. It has a bad ass parts bin 2.4 and a custom built transmission that comes exclusively on the SRT-4. The old ones dyno'd 223 out of a 215 hp engine, but the 04s have 230 hp....and I believe you can even get them with an LSD now.
Go for it, just have fun trying to put the power down in the snow if you live in an area of cold shitty-ness.
It may be a turd in peoples eyes, but a car that runs mid 13s from the factory for 21 grand is anything but a turd to me.

Sorry, it is still a turd. Who gives a shit if it runs 13's for under 21,000 from the factory, you can build a Civic that runs 12's with factory reliability for under $15,000 including cost of car. For less than that I could have my wifes Clio running 9's, that doesn't mean it is a automotive wonder. It's 1) still a Dodge, 2) still a Neon.
This is the car for the people who simply don't have the time to build a fucking Honda to make it fast. This is the car for people who want something already FAST, throw on a few simple bolt ons and make it go faster.

Their is this neon crew around where I live, they all have body kits, altezza lights, and huge shopping cart style spoilers. They are called "Neon E-Leet (sp?)" and I believe they are all automatic. It is so ghey. None of them are a SRT-4 either. They all cruse together and their is one dodge stratus 96ish with a body kit, Integra altezzas (moulded to the rear bumper) and the huge ghey and curious wing.

And an EH2 hatch looks a lot nicer, smoother and I bet if I had left it stock (even with my swap) would be running quite a few years after the Dodge has retired to the graveyard.

For that reason, I'd rather have an SRT-4 for 12 grand less, and guess what? you're only 3 tenths slower, and not much further behind on the cornering ability. The only difference is the AWD vs FWD. But for 21 grand vs 33, I'd rather spend 21 grand.

And the 13,000 difference could easily be financed so that it doesn't hurt, I mean most people don't have 21 G's sitting around anyway.

(head gasket 4 times, Tranny, Motor).i Drove it to the dealership when i bought my new car and gave them the Keys and told the OWNER (The OWNER of the Dealership) "heres your car she owes $4000 on it and i aint payin".....The OWNER then looked at me and said " you got 120,000 miles on it?!?!?! i am suprised the car made it passed 65,000".

a neon is comparable to a civic. so you can say "hey its still a civic", just like you can say "hey its still a neon". neons can be fast, the srt-4 IS fast. I dont see anything wrong with it besides the fact that it looks like a skittle with 4 wheels. So 92B16, its all a matter of opinion, i bet you already knew that....and we all get that your opinion of that car is that it is crap....so lets drop it. (oh that means stop instigating him too....)
Anywho, my roommate of next school year is 90% sure he is getting one. I, personally, like them for what they are. I dont like the neons styling and shit, but its fast, its not that bad of a car, and its cheap.

okay, as far as performance goes, the neon is a good performer. I personally do NOT like the styling, but all this say about how the quality is shit, and how it will breakdown...thats total and utter B.S. how many of you know somebody with a wrx or sti that broke their tranny or differetial already? and thats on a 33 thousand dollar car. So i say, if you like the styling, buy it...its not a regualr neon...thats like saying "mustangs are shit, because ford escorts are shit..."

for the money, it's plenty fast. It doesn't look THAT bad. The price is hard to beat for the bang-for-your-buck.
It still looks like a neon, but again, at that price, nothing can beat it (stock).
as far as color goes, I saw a red one tonight and it looks really good in that color.
Besides, if you buy it new, you still have the warranty in case anything goes wrong.
And they're pretty rare too. I've only seen a few in Dallas.
