Driving home last night our 99 CRV decided to come apart....we lost the engine :(

Any members here have any thoughts on the EASIEST swap or upgrade to give the CRV slightly more power?

Not looking for a monster, but since the engine is coming out, what is the simplest way to get more power from an engine swap (ease of installation, wiring, tuning, etc).

Our vehicle is a 99 Honda CRV, auto, awd

Thanks - J

oh yeah...I forgot to mention I have an engine sitting here in the shop from a GSR I got for parts awhile back. It is a B18 GSR engine with a Jackson Racing supercharger and RC injectors....is this a possible engine for our CRV???

absolutely. you're gonna want to find a chipped P72 ECU and have it tuned, but yeah. I'd also look into getting a new torque converter. that engine is going to be about 240-250 HP, almost double the CR-V's stock.

Other options here...

I also have a B16 from a 99 Civic Si and a B18 from a GSR.
Your help is great...please keep it coming!!!

the b16 isn't really advisable in a crv. it's lacking in the torque department (which is why the CR-V gets the B20 in the first place). If you're going to go with an engine, i wouldnt go below GSR.

The thing that really worries me in your situation is the transmission. I think it's going to take a lot of fun out of any engine you choose.

hey if you have that b16 sitting there how much you want for it?

Still really surprised I haven't found a detailed blog or website with anybody that has done a swap in a 99 CRV? Is it possible that nobody has done one?

Contact me if you are intersted in purchasing either the GSR engine with the super charger or the Civic Si engine. Send me an email......since I am new here I'm not sure if i post an email address if it will get spammed? My email address is located at either of my websites Welcome to Joel Lipperini

jlipper,

I removed the second link in your post due to our advertising policy. The first link seems to have the email address in it and no kind of service advertisement.

I've never heard of anyone doing the CR-V swap before, but so many people use B20Bs and B20Zs that i find it difficult to believe that no ones thought of it. Maybe its rare because of the high center of gravity on the CR-V?

No problem on removing the link.
I am surprised too! Since the CRV has been sold for so long, you think somebody out there would have swap info retaining the AWD??

Why dont you thake the GSR head with the supercharger and slap it on the b20 block? That would give it the serius kck in the ass the crv needs.

Well people have tried swapping out the drive train from a crv into a crx and a civic (that i've heard of), just never heard of anyone leaving it in the CR-V chassis.
