So I picked up this blast for 500 it needs a little work but will be a cheap gas sipper and a great spring flip if needed!

Just had it delivered and took it for a rip. Torque!

So it will need...

forks
Blinkers
Mirrors
Battery
Stator?
Horn
tune up
Small odds and ends like bolts and brackets for the fairings

I have the short and Tall windscreen and The old tires. It came with an ungodly loud Vance pipe and a K&n air filter which looks new.

it has 1000 miles on it !

I’m the 3rd owner. It was bought new by some older woman who rode it for years then my friends son got it. Dumped it into a tree and rode it home. Never drove it again. Sat for 2 years then I bought it

If there's not gobs of torque with a 492cc thumper, something's wrong, lol. I bet it's fun, it should be easy to ride too, harley made a name for them by using them in the riders' course.

In all honesty, it probably just needs a battery and a regulator/rectifier, the stator is probably fine, rarely does time destroy them, but a time-destroyed battery can take a regulator/rectifier with it.

so i'm curious now. i've been through the whole bike and have a shopping list of stupid random shit. to make the bike pass inspection, its only a horn, blinkers, mirrors, forks, and charging. thats atleast half the list.

the muffler has no packing at all. that will be the first thing to change LOL theres a bike shop up the street from me. then i will replace the forks/headlight brackets/trim ring at the same time (probably next month)

i've been reading that the bike should have different, bigger jets in it due to the VH exhaust and KN filter. the carb leaks a little gas out of the intake if i play with the throttle too much when it isn't running, i shut the petcock off for now.

Disassembly...

More parts...

going to take the good right signals and put them up front and put two new ones on the rear. Better fit than the ones I got for free. They will all match too!

working on getting the pipe off so I can measure the glass I need.

Pipes off so going to order the Vance repack kit. I’m glad I can make it a little quieter.

I've never heard a quiet Vance & Hines, but best of luck in your quest lol
Used to love the one I had on my Ninja 600, but that was back when I liked loud things.

thats why i said a little! 1/4 of the packing was gone and a few good chunks of it crumbled out. got the new to me fender today, and all the parts to do the front end should be here today/tomorrow. gotta loosen up some stuff, before i get it in the air on a jack.

Got a whole bunch of new bolts nuts and washers and cleaning up the Vance pipe. Once the packing arrives I’ll put it together and spray it black.

Got the front end apart. New grease few new bolts and nice fresh forks! Had to file the old shocks out of the too of the tree no idea what was going on there lol. Gonna out the fender on after I finish up the tree. Then the wheel.
