by far the easiest is the zc swap... you can get the dohc zc with tranny for pretty cheap... bolts right in and uses the std harness with a little modification but not much... anyway i love mine...
if you use the zc tranny you will also need the zc intermediate shaft and 86-89 teg axles(not too sure on that) but any 88-91 d series tranny will bolt right up...
