my prelude has an f22a1 in it and everything in the bottom end is forged. but it has a 9 5 1 compression... can i boost it or do i need lower compression pistons?

You'll be fine with that compression. Actually, if the internals truly are forged then you'll be more then fine...

You can honestly boost at any compression. It all depends on the tune.

But typically 9.5:1 is just about desirable for your application.
