This past christmas we donated to a soup kitchen, this time we're going to donate to the American Cancer Society. Ladies and Gentleman, About 1,334,100 new cancer cases are expected to be diagnosed in 2004. Since 1990, over 17 million new cancer cases have been diagnosed.
This Year about 556,500 Americans are expected to die of cancer, more than 1,500 people a day. Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the US, exceeded only by heart disease. In the US, 1 of every 4 deaths is from cancer.
The National Institues of Heath estimate overall costs for cancer in the year 2002 at 171.6 BILLION. Lack of health insurance and other barriers to health care prevent many Americans from receiving optimal health care.
Theres tons of stats on this (http://www.cancer.org) but I think we can all do a little part in helping with the costs of treatment and the cost of a possible cure. We will be accepting donations until Augest 31st.
Also i will be documenting and reporting on all people who make donations. After the donations made i will post their reply and their certification that in fact a donation was made and i didn't pocket your money.
This is a great cause no matter where you live.
NOTHING is too small. $1, $5, $10, $25... whatever you can live without for a day. Give up a soda at the vending machine for 1 day and you got a buck to dontate. do it all week (drink water) and you have $5. A little self-sacrifice goes a long way. Think if it was you- and how thankful you would feel to know that there are people out there who care.
If would like to make a donation there are three ways to do so:
