Ok, found the problem...
This part...
... was made larger by the old axle jumbling around inside it when it popped out.
So this part of the axle...
... no longer fits snug. It moves around when I put the axle in and shake it.
From what it looks like, the axle does go all the way in but has that play in it.
So the diff is still ok, right? Or is that part of the diff as well? The splines on the diff are ok though.
