I’m in need of technical advice regarding what to do with a D15B8 engine that I just purchased to replace a worn-out D15B7 engine in a ’92 Civic LX. I’m very new to Honda engines and must admit I’m dazed and confused by all of the different engines and combinations available for swapping. The engine I just purchased was being sold as a D15B7, and I find out after purchasing it that it’s actually a D15B8. I am disappointed to learn that it originally came from a Civic CX, and has only 70 HP vs. the 102 HP of the original engine in my Civic. Several questions: 1.) Although I know this engine will actually fit into my Civic, is it going to be so underpowered that I’ll be wishing I’d used another D15B7 or something else? I’m not really so concerned about having a powerful engine, but I don’t want to feel like I’m driving a Geo Metro. 2.) Will this D15B8 engine bolt up and work properly with the automatic transmission that’s in my Civic?(it's currently attached to a 5-speed) 3.) Are there any parts on the D15B7 engine that will swap onto the D15B8 that will help increase the HP? Thanks for any and all help.
