So I searched and searched for some OEM 15" wheels
(well not that much searching...only a few weeks worth)
I found mostly bad rims with too many curbs, clear coat peeling
(overall rapid deterioration)
I would ask Guys (mostly Craigslist) what condition the rims are in on a
scale of 1-10.....I got a lot of 7.5's and was disappointed when I showed
up...waste my time and gas. Most have bad tires (they irritate me as they pose
to have 2 good tires/2 need replacing) Ends up being bad rims that need new
tires in the next 50 miles. Some have 2 different size tires and most have 3-4
different brands so its all junk if the rims look like crap.
I finally found some decent ones (claimed to have 80% on tires...uh...no!) He sent
decent pictures and didn't lie about the amount of curbs/etc two had good tread but
one of them had 2 nails...one going through the top and poking out of the sidewall.
the 3rd tire had 50% tread left and the 4th had about 60%
Well...he was a cool guy and after I saw the nails...I said "So what are you going to
do for me? How much we talking now? Lets work" He wanted $250 firm and he
shot out $200 with a shrug of his shoulders
I agreed and threw them in my back seat (thank you Goodwill for the $2 bed sheet)
So here one of the rims (prob #2 or #3 in terms of looks)
Bought some cheap V rated 'Negotiators' (205 50 R15) $300 out the door
They're going on tomorrow (tire guy had to order them)
