po6 to p28 ecu problems

i have an ls/vtec motor in my eg its a dx i put a 95 ex ecu p28 and the check engine light wont go away i tried to find the code but the wire on top of the ecu that you connect to check for codes wont work what do i do

There is a connector by the ecu that you jump to check for codes not a single wire. Did you add the wires for vtec? If you didnt that is probably why the check engine light is on.
