He immediatly got a beer dumped on him, and after the first runs scored, the police escorted him out of the stadium......

haha, he was sitting there like he knew the beating was about to commence.

lmao, dumb fan

if the Sox lose, I hope the cubbies lose also, just so the New York/Miami world series will have some of the lowest ratings EvAr!!!!!!!

New York in the world series = Bad for baseball
Marlins in the world series = no one cares
Boston in the world series = good for baseball
Chicago in world series = good for baseball
Boston vs Chicago in world series = GREAT for baseball

thats so immature. its just a game. you dont get paid to watch.

all the mass rioting, the BS at the sox/yankees game with pedro hitting the batter, then the fighting... i feel is totally unprofessional. i may not know much about baseball, but it cant be all that great of a sport if it invokes all sorts on violence just because a "team" wins a game they get "paid" to play.

not just to knock on baseball though, this goes for all sports.

EDIT: here come the flames!!

your right, here it comes......

You obviously have never played baseball, whethe rit be professional or minor leagues. One of the first things they explain to you is that you never throw at the batter. Pedro early in his career was known for pitching inside, thus giving him the title of a head hunter (most people that label him that have know clue what the meaning represents). Roger has been known to hit his share of batters also because of his pitchingf style, which is pitching inside and backing batters off the plate. Roger is also known to have hit his share of batters, more so than Pedro, but he isn't labeled as a head hunter despite purposly throwing at Piazzas head, then throwing a broken bat within three feet of him wheile allowing a single.

The whole thing happened as a result of a pitch that got away from Pedro, that the yankees bench thought he was throwing AT the yankee batter, thus the Sox (particularly Manny) was expecting Roger (having known the history of roger to hit him) When the ball was released (a 90 MPH fastball mind) went up high, Manny was ready. He saw the ball coming in fast, high and inside, anticipating Roger was going to hit him. Thats why he went off the handle, because he could have killed him with a 90 MPH fast ball to the head. Unfortunatly, alot of baseball fans are not familure with Tony C, who was going to be one of the greats in line with Teddy Ballgame, and Joe D, but was struck with a fastball in the temple, and bascially ended his career.

The best thing you could do is go to the batting cages close to your house, go into the very fast pitch speed for baseball and stand in front of the plate and try and duck when it comes at you, knowing it is coming right at you, and there is nothing you can do about it.

Having said that, Maybe Manny overeacted, but he was expecting it, because thats how you play the game....

If a beer was all that got dumped on him, he got off easy. That baseball is famous now. Could be a great thing to auction off at some point on eBay. Might bring big $$$...

I have got to disagree with you on that, the first time too. I think if the Marlins make it in the W.S. it could actually be good for baseball. A young inexperienced team whooping the Yankees ass, I would love to see that. Especially Pudge kicking their ass in the National League. This time Pudge actually has pitching, and look how he comes through when they need him. A hit in every post season game, how many guys can say that. Anyway, this year, any teams that play in the playoffs will be good, IMO.

*Cough* hockery *Cough* Also, the Sox were not all at fault, who is the old dumb ass who got taken down by Pedro, thinking he could kick his ass. Also, if the Sox lose they should throw down with the Yankee's, as they say in "Major League" "Let them fight, at least the can win something." Also, Manny would have kicked the shit out of Clemens, Manny is huge.

One more post, any of you guys would have done the same thing that the fan did. I know if the ball was coming towards me, and was technically out of play, I would have tried to catch it. But, I think he will get his ass kicked by some psycho Chicago fan. The curse is at work, it will come through again tonight, go Marlins.

If the Cubs lose today's game 7, that fan will go down in Chicago history along with Mrs. O'Leary's cow.

No one has mentioned the root cause of that games problem though...

Bernie Mac.

Yes, Bernie Mac!

He was the guest singer for the 7th inning stretch (for you non Chicago folks, we sing 'Take me out to the ball game' in the middle of the 7th every game).

Everyone knows you sing:

'So it's root, root root for the Cub-bies'

For the first time in my life, I heard it sung differently:

'So it's root, root root for the champs! The champs baby!'

BERNIE MAC SINGLE HANDEDLY JINXED THAT GAME, bringing about the fan interference, the fielding error, and reawakening the billy goat curse.

DAMN YOU BERNIE MAC!!

You sound just as bad as a red sox fan.

Flame away, ladies.

Oh I'm worse. :)

I'm not a superstitious person normally, but I'm one of the most superstitious people you'll meet when it comes to baseball. :)

A more realistic way to look at it would be that the fan killed the morale of the team... The very next pitch after that, everything went downhill.

The fan, was not the cause of all the runs being scored, it is Gonzalez who caused the damage, had he not made that error, they would have won.

Both are good points.

No, the Yanks being in the Series will be good for baseball as always. The Sox going to the Series will be BAD for baseball, since we all know they don't belong there. :) Hell will freeze over, cats will be having sex with dogs, Kia will be a quality car company....:D

Both the Sox AND Yanks were responsible for the disgusting scene that happened with Pedro, Manny, Don, Roger, etc....They were all at fault in some way or another. With baseball's waning popularity, they should all be ashamed of themselves.

Fighting/Throwing at people is a part of baseball. It has always been a part of baseball as well. Hitting them with the ball hasn't really been huge, but if one of the players, does/says something towards a team mate of yours, you throw the ball at him as a warning not to do that again. In my opinion, it has really gone down since the older days, when Ty Cobb spiked guys to get on base. Doesn't happen as often anymore. Also I just wanted to say, Karim Garcia is an asshole, who thinks he is God's gift to baseball, when in actuallity he couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with a telephone pole. And as Ludacris says "He is more stuck up than a Tampon." His new CD kicks ass.

But Gonzalez may not have made the error if he hadn't been shook up by the fan. Not trying to say the error wasn't his fault, but it could have shook him up enough to affect him...

Gonzalez: 'Oh man I hope that fan over there didn't mess up this series forOH CRAP HERE COMES THE BALL!'

The Sox take game six. WOO HOO!!! I didn't think that they would win. Game 7, I have no idea. The playoffs this year are the best in a long time. Too hard to call. I am going to lead towards, Sox. Why? One word, "Pedro" He won't lose, the Yankee's let the winning go to the head. Clemens has the experience, but I am still going to have to go with Pedro and the Sox. I called it, Nomar came through and the Sox win. Once those bats come through, Sox won't lose.

EDIT: I am going to have to say that whoever gets the most runs will win.
