short shift question

ive heard from a friend of mine that short shifters are not good for transmitions. is this true?

ehh....

the reasoning behind this is that the shifter is longer on the bottom, resulting in a shorter throw up top for you, but at the same time- it changes the angle at which the linkage pushes the gear changer thingee

Frankly, i think its bs, and don't really care-

I've been using one for about 2 years now....
