i am thinking about getting some Skunk2 coilovers for my 1990 Integra GS. for those that have the Skunk2's, what are the pros and cons of them in regards to ride quality, installation, ease of adjustabilty...etc. any input is greatly appreciated. thanks all!!

really the major downside is that the springs are EXTREMLY stiff, so they will be underdampend unless you go with koni's, and if you don't, you will suffer a pretty bouncy ride

I think if your going to go down the sleeve coilover route, go with ground controls.

i too say go with ground controls for the same reasons as asmallsol. not really much more i can add, :)

[off topic] P.S. - asmallsol, check your PM's man, i pmed you a few days ago[/off topic]

sorry tpp, back on topic now :)

sorry, yea, I got it. I have just been busy. Ended up doing a trannyswap on saturday, and sunday I worked.

back on topic.

I have driven in both a GC setup and a Skunk2 setup, both on Tokio shocks, I defently liked the GC's better. Less bouncy, softer, but still on the very sporty side/

EEEK that does NOT look good at all!! hrmmm........

I have skunk2's on my newly acquired crx. They are anything but bouncy.

They are what I like to call stiff as fuck. You hit a road turtle, its like you hit a curb. They are pretty good though for not having any "kick back" The car doesn't bob at all, when you get on the throttle, and the car doesn't really have much body roll for being a stock dx. My 93 Si with neuspeed kicked back much more then these.

The biggest downside, is the rough ride. Are the roads nice where you live? Then they should be fine but once you go on a bridge or something, where there are horizontal slats, it feels like they're big potholes.

damn that sucks.. im in jersey and weve got some serious bumps 2...i like the struts but their way 2 stiff... skunks are only good for adjustable struts.. ive got tokico blues and they are stiff...but when a tight turn comes the car stays straight with no lean and ive got them up all the way for the winter....if u got the dough for adj. go for the skunks if not do the tokico blues with eibach's.. ill probably sell my skunks or trade them for some 1.2 or 1.5 eibach's

holy shit that's on the integra?!?

I wonder what the rears on the Escort look like.

ground controls' 1 perch set-screw is a pain in the ass. that's my only gripe with them. if you don't position the collar exactly right, you won't be able to get the allen wrench in to tighten it.
if you turn it to fit the wrench, you loose your exact height setting. i like the 2- collar deisgns better.

personally, i wouldn't go with either.... so i'm just going to stay out of this one

what are the install times for a set of coilovers, say for a moderately eperienced guy?

Ive got the skunk2's on my 95civic 4dr and have had them for about a year and a half with oem shocks/struts. The ride is great and the handling is awesome. It is lowered about 1.5'-2.0'.

The install time is about 1 hour to 3 hrs depending on if you still have the factory springs and the right spring compressor and tools... if you have acess to a lift it is better..

It depends. If you end up snapping LCA bolts, your in for a fun time. If everything goes smoothly, as little as 2 hours. If things just dont go your way, a day if not more.

i have had skunk2 for awile and they havent snapped or anything like that. the ride is a tad bouncy but overall i cant complain much. i dont have koni's i have kyb gr-2's, im sure it would be a lot better with agx.
