starting problems

1990 honda crx si, completely stock, wont turn over unless you work at it for a few (eventually ill burn out my starter im sure...) im thinking fuel filter but not sure, anyone have any ideas??

does it generally only happen when its hot out or you just ran the car? If so its probably the main relay.

nope, had sat all night, went out to start it up to pull it onto a level surface to check the oil and wouldnt turn over, just happened today when it was cold and had been sitting all night...it started right up at work so what im thinking is, it might only do it when im at a quarter tank or lower

if my memory is still working right...
theres 3 wires going to the starter "atlest on 92-95 civics"

1 ground 1 power and 1 lead from the key switch

take a jumper cable and connect one side to your neg battery terminal
then connect the other side to the starter anyplace where it makes good contack
then try to start the car

it takes about 1 min to try this and it will rule out a big problem
ground problems!

I've had my car do many many many weird things becuase of bad grounds
one of them being the starter working on and off

if that does not work I would remove the starter its held on by two bolts then once its off hook up a jumper cable to the - battery and put it anywher eon the starter itself then run a hot "lead" wire from the + side of the battery right to the lead post on the starter IT HAS to work if not you have a bad starter
try beating it and so on and see if it starts to work
and if not then replace it while its out
