Soooo rediculous...i can't believe how much i get taxed out of my paycheck...

So i work 40 hours a week for straight time at $30 an hour thats a gross of $1200 and then i get 5 hours overt time at $45 which is $225..so i gross $1425/w. My take home pay is $1001 and change, that is basically $200 a day net.

Well last week i worked an additional 8 hours of over time. So 40 x$30 for $1200 and 13x $45 for $585 for a total of $1785...well i only took home $1214, which is 242.80 a day. I only make an additional $41 a day for working an additional 8 hour of overtime a day

So rediculous! $571 in taxes!!!!!!!!!!!!!! F/U UNCLE SAM

I lose 1/5 of my check to all the taxes every week. I work one full day just to pay the city, county, state, and Uncle Sam.

Then the cops waste my tax money to pull me over to write me warnings because I didn't have my headlights on. :)

don't get me wrong, i don't have a problem paying taxes...but christ....$1696 a month $20,352 a year is just down right rediculous. If i had just 1/3 of that back i would be doing very well for myself

"If you make less than.. uhh.. $250,000 a year . . . you will not see your taxes increase one single penny."

Back on topic - is this more than you are used to paying?

See if you can become an independent contractor, then you get a 1099 and have more leeway w/deductions.

overtime and bonuses are taxed at a higher rate of income. it's a shitty deal, but they anticipate that being your annual pay. you will just get a bigger tax return this year.

with such high taxes, it's going to push the money makers out of the country. something like 90% of taxes are paid for by 1% of people and businesses. thats why it pisses me off when they want to raise taxes for the rich. why should they be taxed more because they work harder? there is no more incentive to make money. fucking socialism.

edit: god dammit, now you have me ranting.

man, i hear you.

in two weeks i make approx 2300 bucks. take home....................1391 (after insurance and taxes). AND I CLAIM 2!!!

not everything thing they take from your check is taxes. dont forget about social security and medicare, and if you contribute to any other type of retirement.

dont let them fool you SS and medicare are taxes
thats why i work for the government then you dont pay social security!

edit:even working for the government though my gross pay is usually around 2400 and i only net 1600

Get your complaint stick out.. the increases are coming for taxes.. everyone voted for hope and change and only got more taxes and the same..

the only people who benefit from a democratic president are old people and poor people.

once you guys get older and start paying more taxes, you'll realize how bad this sucks. i've seen this board grow over time. more and more members are making more money and getting pissed off at the bullshit.

people will only put up with bullshit for so long. but as long as we have broke dick katrina survivors still voting and holding their hands out for free money, we will be fucked.

it's a double edged sword allowing everybody to vote. on one hand, things are "equal" and everybody is represented.

on the other hand, broke dick clowns who need to be flushed down a toilet, vote for a president who takes money from the rich and gives to the poor. it's just not right that my hard earned money goes to people who wont/don't work, just because they are able to vote.

you should only be able to vote if you are a qualified taxpayer.

That IS a tax... basically I will never see that money again. At least with what they take out for the fed/state income taxes, I can get a percentage back come April. SS and Medicaid, I won't see a dime.

:bs: they phased out that benifit plan before you were born. FIRS or CSRS

Civil Service Retirement System - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Federal Employees Retirement System - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Windfall Elimination Provision primarily affects you if you earned a pension in any job where you did not pay Social Security taxes and you also worked in other jobs long enough to qualify for a Social Security retirement or disability benefit.

For example, this provision affects Social Security *benefits when any part of a person’s federal service after 1956 is covered under the Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS). However, federal service where Social Security taxes are withheld (Federal Employees’ Retirement System or CSRS Offset) will not reduce your Social Security benefit amounts.
The Windfall Elimination Provision may apply if:

  • You reached 62 after 1985; or
  • You became disabled after 1985; and
  • You first became eligible for a monthly pension based on work where you did not pay Social Security taxes after 1985, even if you are still working.

I receive quarterly bonuses and an annual management bonus. My last quarterly bonus was taxed at 39.85%.
