what will happen if i retard the exhaust valves, is it possible on and sohc engine, can you get more horse power by advancing or retarding the valves if so, how much?

yes its possible,cam gears........a dyno almost always used when trying this and run decent octane gas 93+,start with the intake cam advance 1 deg. at a time,when optimal power is reached on the intake then you should try retarding the exaust cam, 1 degree at a time.if no power can be found try advancing a deg. or two........4 intake advance and 1-2 exaust retard is what most I've played w/so far and all I've worked w/had very minor mods....my $.02.

on an sohc you cant retard just the exhaut valves... they are all run off of 1 cam.. which reaffirms my thought that single cams suck
