Which Is Better?

Keep it simple. Swap in a B16.

Unless you know how to maintain your car, and honestly most of the people I see don't, LS/VTEC is going to cause you more trouble that you will anticipate the money to fix for. LS/VTEC is fun, and there are no doubts that if done correctly, and maintained properly they can run for thousands of miles with minimal maintainence, it's just that most people don't want to do that these days; they want to swap and go.

Get the LS. You dont have to worry about adding any wires. Your car is light enough that the added power will help it a the races. If you need you can always add N20. Adding a vtec head to it requires too much work. You dont have to replace the bottom end. Really you just have to enlarge the valve reliefs on the pistons. You just wont be able to sustain 8k rpms on that motor forever.

If you install the vtec oil squirters.. you can rev it out. The ls wont do shit for racing, anyone with a vtec, even some y5/8's or z6's might get you, who knows. its all about driver.

Blah...Its not the oil squirters that dont allow the ls to rev out to 8k. When i get some dual valve springs and ti retainers and new rod bolts i plan on revving out to 7500-8k on a daily basis. Its been done before on a ton of setups that ive seen.

And do you have any direct experience with racing a ls? Well i do and i can beat b16's up until 4th...id give a 2 car lead on a d series and they would get their ass handed to them

In all motor, yes, a VTEC motor with the exact same mods as an LS motor, in the same car with the same driver, the VTEC will beat you. If LS is so powerful, then why the fuck is everyone running vtec in all motor and pro racers running vtec/t setups?
