I've been thinking about doing a swap for the spring time that I can still build on over time. I've narrowed it down to the SOHC zc, DOHC zc, and the d15b. I'm not sure which one to get. I know some of you will say just get an LS or b16 but idk I just want to do an easy swap for my first swap. the SOHC zc is still single cam wich means that later on I could do a mini me if I wanted. the DOHC zc is well...a DOHC and thats pretty cool for a d series. And the d15b I'm not sure about it because it's kind of a middle ground. it's vtec which is awesome, and it's more then the SOHC zc but cheaper then the DOHC. if anyone has any input I would love to hear it.

thanks!

with your wants, id go sohc zc, mini me later when you can get a z6 head and just have some fun with it.

vtec is made for fuel economy, lol not "i've got VTACK Y0!!!" vtec should be a smooth transition. if you want to feel a pull, just get the turbo.

i've had several turbo'd cars and several honda vtecs. if you save the money you would spend on getting a vtec head, you will be much happier with the turbo results. it will be a minimal difference.

well I wanted to in the end do both. first one then the other, I don't really care which one is first

do the turbo first. if you spend the $600 from going vtec into getting better turbo parts, or even a turbo cam and head job, you will be much happier than adding vtec.

sorry to just into ur thread but i have a 90 si hatch with a sohc zc in it with skunk2 intake manifold and an injen cai...my question is whats a minime???

they one thing that I'm not sure of with any of these swaps is, they don't really have much of an aftermarket support, like cams, springs valves things like that, well...if I did a mini me it would but besides that, they don't have many unless any of you know of anything

Yeah they do- just not as easily found as for the B series engines. SOHC D upgrades have been discussed quite often here on Hondaswap. Search it up.
