I was on aim and talking to someone from Honda-tech... he says he has 2 JDM YS1 transmissions, one with LSD one without. I was under the impression YS1's were not JDM units. Is this true they were/are JDM?

The convo:
Theoneinthe760Ca: i have like 4 jdm cables
Integra1990Racer: wanna trade?
Integra1990Racer: you pay shippin on tranny
Integra1990Racer: i pay shippin on engine
Theoneinthe760Ca: well
Integra1990Racer: or motor
Theoneinthe760Ca: see i have a j1 s1 and 2 ys1's
Theoneinthe760Ca: i need 3 and i have 4
Integra1990Racer: ys1 isnt JDM
Integra1990Racer: 90-93 Integra's came with it
Theoneinthe760Ca: nope
Integra1990Racer: USDM integra's came stock with YS1's
Theoneinthe760Ca: the YS1 was also a JDM tranny
Integra1990Racer: really?
Theoneinthe760Ca: i have one with stock LSD and one with out
Theoneinthe760Ca: both are JDM
Theoneinthe760Ca: the 90-93 integ ys1 has a bigger shaft a hyrdo one
Integra1990Racer: mmm didnt know that..... goin by the reference section on hondaswap.com it says ys1's were not JDM, USDM only
Theoneinthe760Ca: its diff then the regular JDM bseies
Integra1990Racer: 90-93 integras are cable trans.
Theoneinthe760Ca: skip hondaswap some of they chet is wrong
Integra1990Racer: Ill get it figured out
Theoneinthe760Ca: i know but the diff between JDM and USDM is the shaft spline, the USDM has a hydro size one when the JDM has a smaller one like the rest of the jdm cables.

This true?

im not 100% positive, but im pretty sure the ys1 is a usdm-only.

but that's just me. saying that because i've never seen a ys1 on a jdm motor.

YS1 is both JDM and USDM... It's the 92-93 teggy tranny.

In 90-91 There is the same problem.. .The "S1" is US and JDM, the US having long gears, where the sought after JDM S-1 is very short gears.

Did the YS1 come with multiple gear pacakages? Because the YS1 that came on the 92-93 LS sucks, I didn't know that JDM land called the XSi tranny a YS1 as well. I always thought they got the Y1 or the S1.

Ok check it out, the YS1 was indeed from Japan and the US, BUT, in the US it came on the RS/LS/GS/and SE and the gear ratio was...

1st 3.230
2nd 1.900
3rd 1.269
4th 0.966
5th 0.742
FD 4.266

In Japan it came on the XSi/RSi and had this gearing...

1st 3.307
2nd 2.105
3rd 1.459
4th 1.107
5th 0.875
FD 4.400

Thanks for the info.

What tranny came on the 92-93 GSR? Was that also a YS1?

Yes, but it had a different 5th...0.880

I was under the impression that the final drive was different for the GSR as well.
