Has to be done surgically =(. Bottoms are horizontal and growing into my other teeth and top ones are popping out the sides a bit and the roots of them are in my sinuses. The pain has been on and off for about a year now and it now finally hurts enough to get it done... The x-rays showed me why lol. So I'll be all hopped up on anesthesia tomorrow and pain killers for a while after that. Some bone has to be cut through and other complications. I'm not insured, but I guess $2,000 is worth keeping a nice smile that I care about and getting rid of this terrible pain and constant headaches =P. Well, it's 3am and I'm getting it done at 9:30am... I'm off to shower and sleep a bit.
Give me something to read when I can keep my eyes open! What are your stories?

    Sean

I had one wisdom tooth get a bad cavity, and it shattered on a corn nut. I tried to tough it out for 4 months while waiting for my dental insurance to kick in. I made it 3 months, 20 something days before I was in wallowing in so much pain I couldn't think of anything else.. It was freaking crippling, the worst pain I've ever experienced. So, I found a redneck backwoods dentist, paid him $80 and he yanked it. But before he got it out, he got it with the pliers, squeezed, and shattered the roots, he picked out what he could, and every now and again, A little fragment surfaces and works its way out of my gums.

The other three were removed by a real dentist and I'm sure my insurance company got raped.

It'll bother the hell out of you having gaping holes in the backs of your gums, but it'll heal and sooner or later, you'll never know the difference. Better to do it now than wait unitl it jacks up all of your other teeth, then pay 2k for the removal and another 5k for braces to fix it.

I had mine taken out before there was any serious issue. I have a good dentist.

Then the next day after the op I was eating chinese food. Suck it.

Mine were removed I think when I was 16.

At the time, I had the flu so I was pretty sick, and I had dry sockets. I still went to work(bk lounge) and stuff. Thankfully then, I had a good girlfriend and she brought me milk shakes every day.

Milk shakes and you just got your wisdom teeth removed?? No wonder you had dry sockets...

I had all 4 of mine surgically cut out... hurt like a bitch, but the vicodin made everything better :) I got dry socket once when drinking through a straw, but nothing serious... just a little blood.

I had mine taken out when I was a junior in high school. Missed an entire week and ate nothing except drinking chicken noodle soup broth..

I thought the sutures tasted good as they were dissolving. By the time I went back to school I still had bruises on my cheeks.

i still have all mine... my bottom left is starting to get annoying, and it may be coming out soon. but the other 3 don't bother me and they are coming in straight.

i dread that day. so much.
id rather get kicked in the nuts for an hour than go to the dentist.

and the sad part is, my g/f is a dental assistant. lol

They're not that bad. I had all 4 removed at once, they were impacted and the 1 broke (grinding my teeth E'in :( )

The best part is the drugs afterward  If you complain about the 1st script you get he will most likely give you another and you get to keep the original one too :) Say they make you sick to your stomach and you'd like to try something else.

So that's what they do with all that snow in Alaska ;)

When mine were taken out my cheeks were so puffy, I looked like a chipmunk.

    Good call.

I'm almost 22 and I've put the operation off for 2years. I never needed braces, but my dentist showed me the x-rays of my wisdom teeth which are all growing horizontally and directly towards my back molars. My smile will be jacked up if I don't eventually have the operation done.

I heard that it will put me out of commission for about a week or two. I've also heard the horror story of how painful the operation is for some and of course the good old "no eating solid food" bit.

I didn't want to have to take off from the gym for a week or two, so I never went through with the operation.
