So, I bought a powdercoated Moss skidplate for the Mini due a few things
-ground clearance
-aluminum oil pan, radiator, rad support
Well I was installing it and noticed a part I've never seen before and was wondering if maybe (newer) BMW's have something similar (never saw one when I was at the junkyard, but the newest 3series we had was an e36)...?
anyway, I present my Power Steering Fan:
it sits right on the rack facing the ground.
I also noticed there is no belt driven power steering pump...it also seems to be sitting on the rack (if you look to the right of the fan you can see the end of it.
pretty neat system, and I'm really glad I put the skid plate on
-it covers this from anything bouncing up and hitting it
