Probably. I know a few people who just got deployed to Afghanistan.
See we fight wars a lot differently than we did during WW II. Desert Storm we stopped short and there is a chance we would have fought a similar war in 91. See back during the big one we carpet bombed, we leveled towns and with artillery, we gassed, and we even nuked. So what kind of resistence would be left after six months to a year of constant death? Now that we are all so much smarter with warfare and technology we focus on precision air strikes and small unit tactics. So our occupation after V-day in Iraq was so much harsher because we did not completely destroy the opposition mentally as well as physically.
HondaDude (one of our members here on HS) just got deployed to Kandahar in Afghanistan...
Its just to shut "the people" up and tell them what they want to hear at the expensive of those who are serving.... pretty messed up if you ask me...
