It doesn't have a man pedal

This is definately one car I will be considering as a " I need to feel like a man so i need a car that can snap my wifes neck on the way to the mall" car. I'm shooting for this time next year...RS6 or Z06
 
Yesterday I was stuck in NY in a flash flood, and I had no camera. Which for many reasons - Mainly because of the awesomeness of a flash flood (I had never seen one) and secondly because there was someone there with a 2012 A8 with a 6 speed manual.

I didn't even know that was a thing.

Nope. I carry two phones and neither has a functioning camera. My personal phone has a broken display and camera, and my work phone doesn't even have a QWERTY. It's a tracfone.

did the plugs today. bought oem and even had the dealer put them in while i was there for my oil change and a recall (some brake switch sensor)

and it's the exact same detonating pile of shit it was before.

i guess i could reflash it back to stock, but WTF. the map WAS FINE for like 2 years! what changed to make it no longer be good?
 
How long has it been detonating for? Its not just a few bad tanks of gas or something is it? Does it only detonate at higher RPMs? Sounds like you need to visit Wil...
 
its only when i really romp on it. so i've not been doing that much lately. it's been happening since at least last summer.
with my clutch being useless, i've not been on it anyway since anything after 2nd gear loses mechanical advantage and the clutch can't hold it any more.

basically, the tune is fucked.
but the stock program blows. its like 5 less mpg and 100 les hp. lol. When i first flashed it, it was fine for a long time.

wil is just too far away to really consider.

there's tuning shops here, but how are they going to tune me when the clutch won't hold a run on the dyno in the first place? and odds are no one has the unit i use anyway (there's like 4 dealers, none near here)

There's a haltech unit available. plug and play. That any tuner could work with

i'm 4 grand away from a car as it sits basically right now power-wise. and that blows. Considering i'd get exactly the same on trade if i did NONE of that.


i really think its just time for the car to go.
 
Trade it in on a new Genny? Idk B. Nice and fast cars are never cheap.

Lol once again using an extreme example. Stand alone ecu...

Just drive the car to a place that tunes what you have even if its an hour or 3 away, make a fun day trip out of it with the GF.

Clutch is a wear item. You've put 100hp extra through it... Just replace it.

Cost of owning a car...
 
Get a proper custom tune? Every car is still different... a pre-made program that works for one car might not work right for another identical car.
 
The fact that it was good and now is having issues makes me think its not so much the tune but rather an injector not working correctly or something else that is out of wack. Replace the clutch and have a base dyno pull done to see where your a/f is sitting. Do it at a meet and the dyno pulls can be had for $50

Also what are the chances that you think its detonating but it's maybe something else?
