i still want to know exactly what options you selected to get a WRX up to 39k.

the STi Limited (includes the better stereo, leather, LED headlights, 18" BBS alloy wheels, etc) is like 38-39k. i could swear that the STi limited included the keyless entry stuff too from what people say on NASIOC, but i could be wrong. and you'll get the higher output engine and beefier transmission. though its not the new DI engine. its the same old tech. but you'll get better brakes (brembo), better trans (the WRX 6sp is NOT the STi 6sp), better suspension, DCCD center diff, and some other things.

the STi Limited i just built was 39k, and included everything you just mentioned and a few other little things. IF keyless is only available with the NAV package, add another 1500, but i still think that keyless is STD.

Even if $22k OTD. Too ugly.

I'd rather get a left over 2014 remove badges, wing, hood, and get a good tune.

I'm meh on the style, it wouldn't be a deal breaker for me either way. it's simply too much money. If I'm going to spend 40 grand, it's not going to be with Subaru.

And they wonder why no one wants to mess with Honda's any more.

Yet, the wrx comes standard in manual and look at that aftermarket? it's the hot car now a days because the mfg'er caters to its clientele.

Still, overpriced IMO. I know ian showed a 26k sticker, but I speced it to almost 40k with comparable features to my genesis that I would miss... like homelink mirror, sub/better radio, keyless fob, etc

40k?, i built a base model with almost every option, including all the STI upgrades, $170 shift knob, all the upgraded speakers, short shifter, exhaust etc...and i was under 34k

B the BMW is a sick sick sick bike. Way over kill. 200hp turn key 370lb rocket.

If you were at all serious at bikes Yamaha just released the brand new 3cly fz9 awesome bike with a $7990 price point.

If I didn't own a 919 I would so pick one up.

Great power for what it is great torque and a pretty good looking bike too.

Options seem about the same- but base is different (26k vs 30k). That explains the difference of 4k (35k vs 39k). Must be based on location? Aren't you both from CT?

Regardless- there's no reason to spend that much on a scubby. Keep the genny, do the clutch work and wheel fix, and stop your bitching. We all know that finding the right car for you is like hitting the G spot - and we know that does not exist.

Might as well pay off the genny and get rid of that car payment (at least for the moment).

i do find it funny that b would rather spend 30k on a new car vs 2k to fix everything wrong with the current one.

Monthly payment versus upfront expense.

Most people finance their life away because it allows them to live beyond their means AND because many people don't have the liquidity to even cover the up front money needed to acquire lesser items (so they figure they are financing it anyway, so they might as well get what they REALLY want).

Financing has been around ever since currency was invented. It's been part of life ever since civilized men have existed. It's not some new concept and there is certainly nothing wrong with it. Buying things with cash, to me is pretty stupid these days. You have absolutely 0% protection on any of your purchases. if you have the cash, great...i would still put it on a credit card, reap the benefits of the points and be protected against any fraud or bad purchases that you just made with your cash, and just pay off the card when the balance is due.

I bought a car on a credit card, turned out to be a POS, filed a claim with my CC company , got the charges taken off and ended up getting to keep the car. Had i paid cash, i was shit out of luck.

You guys are talking about 2 different things. Financing everything so you can keep up with the Joneses, and responsibly using credit.

One is smart, the other is not so smart.

vetteguy you always seem so argumentative lol. You can both be right. It's ok.

But back to the original topic, I too would just fix the Genesis at this point. Clearly you won't be able to find something at a reasonable price point with all the bells and whistles you want, and it's almost paid off sorta kinda.
