" I found some very insightful information regarding GDI engines and the need for a catch-can to gather the evaporated crank-case gasses before they are sucked back into the intake. If not done, the gasses (containing oil, fuel fumes, God knows what) when sucked into the intake are actually collecting on the hot surfaces of the intake ports and valves.
This is because the GDI is a DRY intake system. Unfortunately, using gasoline additives have no affect on the intake ports and valves because the fuel bypasses this area completely to be injected directly into the cylinder."
so yesterday i picked up a set of racinghart j8 in 18x7.5 2 almost new tires and 1 OK one and 1 junk one. $350, steal. going to pick up 2 new tires for a matching set and i'll still be making out like a bandit. these suckers are lightweight! 225/40r18.
Spent a little time dipping the wheels and brushing the calipers yesterday. only got 1 side done. it was really hot and ayla was not pleased at the weather.
i couldnt find a brush on caliper paint in the color i wanted, so neat thing about this was i sprayed the heat resistant paint into a cup and let it atomize for about 5 minutes, then brushed it on when it wasn't so watery. worked like a charm. my gorilla lugs from the corolla fit like a charm, too!
then the PETCO meet in Middletown RI I met up with Ryan from Worcester to roll down in his 2 days old VT.
