Hey guys, I'm getting new wheels and tires for my car, and the ones that are stock (175/70 R 13) are the puniest things I've ever seen... So I wanted to know what is the maximum tire and wheel width I can get without causing any damage or wear to my wheel wells? Thanks!

I'd go for 15" in diameter wheels. Any bigger than 15" and it looks bad (looks like a hotwheel car) and it screws up your spedometer. The normal width is 5-6 inches, could probably go 7".

This is pretty sick:

I used to have 205/45/16 tires on a set of 16x7.5 wheels on my 91 si hatch. They were ok in the front but the rears rubbed like a bitch. I would stay away from anything bigger than 15x6.5. There are plenty of good wheels in the 15x6 or 15x6.5 range. Also lots of good tires around a 195/50/15 which should fit great. That was what I went with on my old hatch after I got smart and ditched the heavy ass 16's it had.

Exactly what you want to hear TT01Fanatic, what he said is absolutely correct.:)

im currently running 205/50R15's on a 6.5" wheel, lowered about 2 inch, and have no rubbing issues so you can always consider that as an option too. keep in mind its much easier to find 195/50R15's in stock at tire shops than it is 205/50R15's, around here it is anyway... i work at a shop and have the benefit of adjusting the inventory to keep a spare set in stock for myself incase anything happens to mine.

I'll take any size that's bigger than the 13 inch nubs I've got on the car right now. 6 inch is *checks a ruler* sounding good to me. I make 6 inch my limit on width, but what if I went with a longer diameter wheel with a lower profile tire to compensate? The stock wheel are 13 inches, and I want to try to bump it up a bit, just an inch is fine, maybe two?

Tell me what you think!

oh sorry, I meant 13's yeah. 15 inches would be fine, and I take it they would run okay with lower profile tires?

I have 15x6.5s with 205/50r15s on my EF dropped about 3.5in I had to roll the lips because it was rubbing, but after that I havent had any problems. You could run 15s with a 2inch drop with no problems at all.
