First of all i am not looking to make a race car or anything just looking to get a nicer family car since m wife and i just had a baby girl in october. that being said here is the skinny....

I was recently given a 4 door 95 honda civic dx by my cuz who has too many cars. the car has the stock d15b7 and is pretty complete. the motor, trans, cv's etc are all out since he had a boosted d16z6 p28 and associated parts. since then he has bought a "cooler" looking honda 2 door and yanked the motor and trans to put in that 1.

The original motor has 275+ on it and needs to be rebuilt according to my cuz and all the rebuild kits i have found are pretty expensive or close to the same price as a d15b jdm motor i found out here close to my house from an importer( 400 for a rebuild kit +?$ machine work vs 600 jdm motor) i am on a limited budget (aprox 1500) and would like to have some spare tax refund cash to buy my wife a little something.

So here is the question/questions

1. What all do i have to get in order to do a jdm d15b swap into my "new" 95 dx? Aside from ecu p08/p28 and vtec wiring add to my stock harness?

2. do i "have" to get a different trans or can i use the stock one?

3.i have heard a lot about how it is possible to add vtec to wiring harness but have not seen a walk through (if one exist) about how to do it. Any such "walk through"?

Any help i can get would be awesome. I have worked on a lot of cars in my life so i am familiar with tools and such so i am confident i can do this swap with some guidance. Reason I am asking this community is well, the car was free so I would like to be able to do this without having to ask my cuz too many questions( although he will be there to help answer any questions that come up on the fly.

Very excited to join the "club" of honda guys. Always wanted one (5th gen/6th gen) but could never afford 1. Driving 91 ford escort. get me outa this beater and into a honda PLEASE!!!!!!!

apon further review that web page about swaps 101 makes no mention of a d15b. still dont know if tranny will work or if anything else will work... thanks for that vtec wiring page!!!!

ON MY WAY

No offence, Im sick of answering People and this new Copy fase of taking a D15B and putting in there DX I did this centurys ago well not really but back in 96... its quite simple, in the EK section alone I think I answerd what u will need in 5 posts if not more... take some time look around!

Swapping in a d15b will be really easy. You'll need the stock mounts and axles. Yes, you can use the stock transmission.

You're just going to need to wire in Vtec, although it's possible that since there was a d16z6 in the car previously Vtec might already be wired in.

I'd give you more info on how to wire Vtec but I don't have enough knowledge about it. It's true you could probably find info searching but it's a forum and if someone has the time to respond to a question they should, I apologize about the other guys being assholes about it.

you gotta think though... some people aren't good with computers and honestly might not know how to search.

agreed, and searching on this stie is really hit or miss, has been since the beginning, that is why pissedoffsol put everything in the refrence/swap/general info sections right at the top of the forum. it's not really that hard to post a couple links, takes about as much time as typing "i answered this 10 times" if so then point to your post.

well i bought the motor and ecu today. $736 total from two different places. p28 and jdm d15b performance motor. found the vtec wire stuff ready to be plugged into the wire harness, and the link from welfare is GOING TO HELP me accomplish MY personal goal of having a honda, everyday grocery getter, with a little more pep.
I realize that when you put your thoughts on a public forum you are also exposing yourself to others trying to criticize and tell you that what your doing is not good enough for them or that somehow they might feel better by not helping and saying some snotty remark about how I or people not familiar with forums are unable to help themselves find info that has been posted a trillion times. The title of my post is d15b complete swap. why anyone would take the time to say "Im sick of answering People and this new Copy fase of taking a D15B and putting in there DX I did this centurys ago well not really but back in 96" and not leave a link to that post is beyond me. I am asking for help because I DONT KNOW WHAT I AM DONIG but i do know i got a free car and this sight seems like there is a lot of helpful people with good info that i would like to share in. Sorry for being a "noob"..

I just wanted to say something i guess. happy bout the buy's and future build. Will post pics when i can figure out how to do it. Maybe someone can help with that????

LOL, I have been a member for 5 years, probably top 20 for members join date vs posts/reputation (someone needs to make a calculator for that) and I still don't know how to post pics, is that bad or what??

Anyway, your best bet is to open an account on photobucket (its free) and post your pics there, then post a link here to the pic. Otherwise Im sure there is a thread somewhere on how to post pics.

maybe this thread will help:

Hey bud, I was pointing out the fact that your question about the trans and Motor and wiring diagram has been around in this section for about a month now, and latly it seems there is a craz for the D15B lmao

Post the link to it then. Otherwise don't bother making a post. If you know where it's at then help him out, I tried searching for a good write-up for him but I couldn't find it.

okay thanks. sorry bout the rant but i was frustrated. bought a wire harness swap adaptor off this guy on ebay. he makes the adaptor to wire vtec and includes instructions for it as well. my cuz offered to sell me his "old" turbo for like 450 without his intercooler. i dont think i want to get it though. again not making a racecar. unless a turbo helps me get better mileage or rocks my little girl asleep i dont think i want to spend the extra dough. I think the d15b has become so popular recently is due to the price. think about it. everyone knows its "cool" to get the faster stronger jdm motor. I mean i have heard a lot of buddies (growing up in silicon valley cali.) saying how they ordered this special motor from japan and stuff. Now i know i wont have a monster or anything but i can say my can has applied for its greencard now. lol.

Thanks again for the pic help
