I have a turbo system going in my car and i want to play it safe. the waste gate is fully open at 15psi. I only want to run like 4psi when i first get it in. What do i do to make it so i can run only 4psi. I know that a boost controller is good for uping the boost, but what about keeping it down?

the boost controller also lets you go down

If your wastegate spring is 15psi you won't be able to go lower than that. You will have to get a smaller spring. The boost controller will let you adjust the boost up and down, but it will only go down as far as your wastegate setting.

agreed- it's impossible to get a 15 psi wastegate to open with 4 psi of boost- It just doesn't work.

What you are looking to do is very possible you are just going about it the wrong way. First get a waste gate size that will support your application. Second get a small psi spring. This will allow you to run around on the 4psi you are looking for. When you want to crank it up that is what the boost controller is for. It will allow you to vary the PSI level above the spring thus getting you to your higher levels.

problem is, a 4 psi wastegate will have boost creep issues at high boost- 4 psi is stupid low anyway- get an 8 psi wastegate and a boost controller

at minimum at least get a 6 psi spring. I mean pushing 4 psi though the motor isn't worth the money you're going to spend.

mmm, i say go with the 4, and use the boost controller to get to 8 if you want it later...

better to make sure you;re safe at 4 than to just crank to 8 and pop a rod

i was only going to run 4psi in the begining then turn it up to 8psi for normal operation. I am not sure what i can do because it has in internal waste gate and i don't know how i would go about finding one that will do what I want it to.

its a turbo with an internal wastegate???

are you challenged?
you can adjust those...
check out homemadeturbo.com or do a google search, they show you how to do it with a bike pump and some math formulas...
