lingenfelter is great, but you have to buy the car, then the package.

i dunno if "your uncle" would do that.

hmm... the c6 z06 runs a 11.xx quarter mile completely stock...

twin turbo it should run 9.xx

And still handle real goddamn gewd

A factory '06 Z06 is kicking out 500hp.

Its funny that they did twin turbos and a full build and only got 800HP... He was doing that with the 350 HP models.

Does this mean that Chevrolet is ACTUALLY starting to design power parts? Factory pieces that are worth a damn?? Maybe they finally hired someone who understood the term "flow"... Maybe even designed the ports, THEN the bolt pattern for the head.. Instead of the other way around...

Wow.. What if chevrolet figures out that headers and exhaust with a diameter greater than 1.25 inches will create power??

Pigs will soon fly.

I still say find an old classic...put it away for safe keeping for a few years and wait for the generation x guys to get rich...we've seen what baby boomers have spent on old muscle cars...some dodge's go for over $250K's...so we can learn from history...and get 50 times what you bought the car for....

Plus insuring and driving any exoctic car in CT is not the smartest to do...

IF your Uncle wants to help set you up...then get him to get you a house first...

cars as an investment is the dumbest shit ever
there are FAR better things to invest in when you are looking to make money in the long run
cars are meant to be driven
i dont fucking care what kind of car it is, if i own it im going to drive it, actually im going to drive the shit out of it
i dont care how much of a collectors item a car might be, i dont care how much it will be worth if i keep it in a fucking climate controlled bubble for 30 years... the only thing i give a fuck about as far as cars go is function and/or enjoyment
cars as investments is just fucking stupid
wow look at this car that i cant fucking drive or enjoy in any way or the value will drop $$$$$$$
:bash:

:werd:

And

The 350Z convertible just looks... off in terms of proportions with the top up.

phyregod- give GM more credit. The LS series engines are excellent. If GM designed a bleeding edge performance engine and put it in every Corvette- sure, they would satisfy the extreme gearheads, but they would lose most of the rest of their market. When selling cars to the general public, it's all about making compromises to sell to the largest number of people. If GM could pull 700hp naturally aspirated out of a Corvette and still sell it to every gold digging prostitute who wants an automatic Corvette and doesn't know how to drive properly, I'm sure they would do it.

heres a little story for ya
Brian saw the car and knows its background

in the mid 50s Porsche did a little project called the Abarth... there were 20 of these cars ever made
it was kinda like a hardtop more race ready version of the 550 spyder
anyway like i said there was 20 of them ever made
today there are probly les than 10 in the world
this guy who is a customer at the german car specialist shop my mom worked at has one
its worth somewhere around a million dollars
now ive met the owner and he is one of the nicest people in the world... flat out, he has more money than god but id still offer to buy him a drink just because hes a hell of a guy
anyway
the car was at my moms place getting fitted with a roll bar, kirkey racing seat, and a 5 point harness, along with a refreshed porsche 4 cam racing engine
he is going to put the car on the track where it belongs... he races it in vintage car races all over the country

that is what you do with a fucking car
you buy it and you use it the way it was intended and get some fucking enjoyment out of it
you dont put it in a bubble and let it sit there
"hey check out my car"
"wow thats beautiful... hows it go?"
"no idea i never drive it... it might go down in value... but it looks cool huh??"

We all know that we can take a honda, and spend about $4-10K's, and make it out perform a damn $100K+ car...drive a beater and beat on it...you already have the Del sol, and the Insight....so those are your driving and beating on cars..already set up to drive.....plus you've seen that even track cars get screwed up on the track...no matter how good of a driver you or they are...it will still get screwed up....eather from wear and tear on the drivetrain...and yes..parts will hurt the wallet...or someone will bump into you, or you'll lose control and wipe out...and I think you've might have already learned that lesson.

If you have the chance to get something from a long lost relative that wants to make ammends...then why make him buy you a super expencive car for you to just go out and drive or beat on...that is kinda disrespectful IMO....Plus...consider your location...CT....some non-insured (enter race, age, sex here) will slam into you for no apearent reason or some stupid screwup...and then your stuck for three years will a pile of junk that you cant part out, sell, or fix...

Get something nice, and cherrish it...and then when the value of it goes up, sell it and get more beaters to actually drive...or buy a small island in the carabians.......not many people has the chance to get an offer like that in your first post....so consider that and go with your feelings....

You still think ANY car is an investment? Holy shit I'm glad you don't manage my money! LOL

it was a purely hypothetical question
basicly if you didnt have to actually pay for the car itself... just owning it... what would your dream car be
and personally i never dream about letting a car sit there "gaining in value"
i dont look at 911 GT3s and think "i bet that car will double in value over the next 10 years" i think "id like to drive the fuck out of that car till the wheels come off"

and i know track cars get fucked up, i know street cars get fucked up, and i know cars that do both have double the chance of getting fucked up... ive already stuffed the sol into a wall... its nothing that i didnt expect to happen eventually... and its nothing that i dont expect to happen again... and again... and again... untill the car isnt repairable... then ill get another car to drive the fuck out of untill it too meets a violent death... and as i get more money, the car that i stuff into a wall will get more expensive
:shrug2:

Well said.

Speaking of GT3's, I saw one on the freeway the other day. The guy was hauling ass in it. Damn it sounded HOT. :)

use it or sell it to someone who will.

i have 21312312X more respect for that abarth with a fender chewed up then i do with a rope around it saying do not touch.

kinda like the McLaren F1 that was at the car show at limerock 2 years ago
fucking thing was FILTHY... road grime all over it, bug guts splattered all over the front... it was great
