So, Ive had enough of T-Mobile, and a wireless contract in general.

I was considering Boost Mobile or Virgin, and even wanna check out Straight Talk at Wal-Mart. Im really leaning Virgin at this point. For 3 reasons. One, the $35 unlimited plan. Two, their map shows coverage in my area (Seattle area). Three, the phones seem a bit nicer than the other 2 carriers.

I can get away with the 300 minutes on the $35 dollar plan because I txt more than talk.

I was wondering if anyone had any input on any of these 3 carriers, or would suggest another one?

I've been on virign for over a year now. works just as good as any big-name provider for 1/4 the price.

Good to hear. Few questions,

Their site talks about Talk Minutes on the Sprint Network. Whats that? Are they just saying you get coverage through Sprint?

And do they throttle the data down like T-Mobile?

I rarely use data when i'm not on wifi, so i really don't know. sprint is the carrier.

after some google fu it seems like all "unlimited plans" throttle after 2-3GB.

why do you dislike tmobile? just wondering because the girl and i have it with 500 talk, unlimited text and web for $90 a month? its the greatest coverage, but it works well enough and the CS isnt too bad, i would give them B.

I dont like em cause my service sucks. And for 700 minutes on two lines, with unlimited text on both, unlimited data on one, and the lowest data plan on the other my bill is just over 150 a month. I dont like their customer service.

I have a cheap Tracfone. Ive never not had service, the phone I have was $20, doesnt have a camera or internet, but I dont need all that fancy jazz, I use it to call people, imagine that. You just buy a card with however many minutes you want, it costs me about $30-35 a month.

You wont like this answer, but i just went from metropcs no contract to tmobil no contract monthly 4g. tmobil is much better than metropcs.... Dunno about boost or virgin. both are owned by sprint so if sprint has coverage in your area than go with either if those two.

I'm on Virgin Mobile. Been with them since last Feb or March.

Here's the problems i've experienced...

The first few months, my internet would crap out for no reason. Always kept having to put my phone in airplane mode for a few minutes, turn airplane mode off, and it would be good to go. For the past 5 months or so, I haven't had to do that. B thinks it's more phone problem than carrier problem but IDK. Doesn't really matter who or what is at fault lol.

I have also noticed that starting around 3PM (Central Time) my phone has to switch to buffering A LOT. This problem last until the next morning. I use the Tune In Radio app to play radio stations from back home in So Cal because the radio stations out here suck donkey nuts. From 7AM-3PM it works flawlessly. Then it hits a wall and every 3 minutes the app says buffering.

Other than that, I love it. I'm grandfathered into the $25 a month plan so it's even better :D

I got a Boost Samsung Galaxy Prevail last month and it's pretty kickass. The phone WAS NOT cheap to have to buy, but wth I wanted a damn Android! Anyways you get the phone for 170-175 depending on the store (got mine at walmart) and with Android phones with Boost you have to use the 55 a month plan if you want Unlimited talk/text/data. On top of that you get Shrinkage, which makes your cost per month drop by 5 bucks every six months until it's down to 35 a month.

I say if Sprint works for you, and you got 230 bucks laying around, you should go for it. I can help you with rooting it and some hacks/mods since I have one myself. After rooting it you can use it as a wifi hot spot.
