So we just paid off the Tacoma and the wife, bless her heart, thinks I should buy a newer car for myself (she picked the tacoma).

That said... it's Z time baby

Any Z owners have any advice on what I should look for while I am shopping? Are there any common problems I should be on the lookout for, etc?

    All depends on the year.

Nissan 2009 370z Coupe and 2003 - 2008 350z Coupe Research, Reviews, Specs, Photos, Prices, Forums, and more You'll find everything you could ever want to know about the Z on there.

Figure out what year you want and look up the details from there.

probably in the 18K range. I am looking for a 2006, black. I have a car now so I am content to sit and wait until the right opportunity comes around within a 300 mile range lol. I want one with low miles, like I said, I have time to wait.

I have found a couple so far but they are either the wrong year, the wrong color, or the wrong price. There are also a ton of convertibles which is a real head scratcher given how much rain we get.

All depends on what the buyer is looking for.

Zs done right can go from 20-40K depending on how well documented of a build and how well done it is.

With that being said, you can find a lot of boosted Zs in the 18-22K range. but for the most part, it will be a Z with wheels, exhaust and a turbo kit.

I doubt the OP is looking for a boosted Z so he'll be better off finding a low mileage 06 Z

Only thing I'm going to say is the Z aint really any fun until 350WHP then it starts to wake up.

I was just trying to give him a heads up on turbonetic kits.

My turbo alone cost about as much as full turbonetic kits are worth on the used market.

I'm not looking for a built car. The more stock it is the better. I may spend a tad more and buy a model with Brembos but that is about it. I'm only planning on doing simple bolt-ons, etc.

...ex-350z owner (and it was black :) )

The 05 track and 35th anniversary have the rev-up motor as well

Depending on what you're going for, the touring and grand touring will have leather, gt's have the brembo's and some have nav..obviously they're heavier than the track. I had an enthusiast, so I got the LSD, hid's, but had cloth seats (which I prefer as I planned on using it for autox). I wasn't heart broken over NOT having the oem brembo's as the track version at the time fetched an extra $3k and I could just swap out my brakes for about $500 (what I paid for all 4 calipers and new rotors)

It's a solid car, well built, reliable (never had any issues)...stay away from the convertible and base models
