1997 is OBD2, if the b18 is obd1 he needs an obd2 to obd1 converter and use the ecu that comes with the motor. Not a good idea to retrogress i would personally stick with ob2 much easier =) good luck
If he lives somewhere that does inspections than an OBD conversion is not going to fly. He's going to need to run the motor as OBD2, and probably use OBD2 accessories as well (intake manifold, O2 sensors, distributor, etc.).
Just wondering though, why do you say it's not a good idea to swap to an older OBD system? If he didn't have to worry about emissions, I'd say go with OBD1. It's simpler and much easier to tune.
so u saying that there is no way that he would pass emission with the 94 b18c1 on his 97 ek not even with a OBD2 to OBD1 connector? there must be a way. and has any one gone threw this problem or know someone that has and what they've done to pass emissions?
