You don't have to do SCCA autocross. You can do some of the local clubs that just run straight times with modified PAX.

It's safe, and it's a hell of a lot more fun than hard parking.

i dont "hard park". i just like to drive my car.

driving around cones in a parking lot doesnt interest me.

in general, sure. with this car, probably not. its my DD. honestly id be more worried about breaking something in the engine/tranny doing a track day. once i upgrade the oil pickup tube (notorious for failures), add in oil and power steering coolers, the header, and some other little bits + protune, then ill probably think about putting this on a real track. but id still be hesitant.

id take the CRX out there (whenever i finish it), as its much more setup to handle that, and more expendible when something breaks lol.

92k on my car as of today. warranty is long gone, however, even if i had it, Subaru is notorious for denying warranty coverage under "abuse"

i saw a guy get denied for a blown motor/trans because he had "unusual tire wear indicating abuse"

the 5sp tranny in these cars isnt stellar. some guys break them with just 300hp, other guys are more lucky. id feel a lot bettter with the STi 6sp, but its about a $5000 expense putting it in, and weighs about 80lbs more. maybe one day. im also worried about that oil pickup tube. as well as ringland failures, which are also pretty common.

but for a fun DD, its just fine for now.

ok i did this last night.

the only thing different from my original plan, was i installed a sway bar meant for a 2011+ WRX or STi. so i ended up not using the spacers.

axles and tie rods are about 3/4"-1" wider, which may not be necessary to install just the arms, but i had to pull the steering rack to fix something else anyway. Also, due to increased angles on the arms and links when lifted, it will require a little bit extra length so I decided it was best to have the extra headroom if needed. so i replaced everything as my car has 92k on it too.

i should be able to get at least -4 deg camber in the front with the stock camber bolts lol. IAG alignment today. i think ill settle on -2.5f and the rear should be around -2 (not adjustable currently)

Which means it might be ready 5 years from now. Ask that poor CRX when was the last time it saw the track...

He needs to rebuild the engine, because it might blow up if he runs it on the track. Something about how the oil pan allows the oil to slosh to the side, and his car pulls so many Gs on the track that the normal oil pan baffles won't work for him.

Last I heard, he was converting it to a dry sump/surge tank setup.

Way to exaggerate.

The oil pickup tube shears off and you lose oil pressure. It's a valid concern. So I want to replace it with a new piece that isn't probe to failure like the stock tube is.

See : http://photos.killerbmotorsport.com/ipod/IpodThumbnails.aspx?gallery=244340

Google "oil tube failure". The first hit is a YouTube video about it on subarus. And most other hits are about the failure on subarus on various forums and sites.

I don't like doing an install of a single part that will take a while to install or will require a retune or alignment afterwards. In those cases I'd rather just install a shit load of stuff at once in a bulk install and then get aligned or tuned once.

So the next bulk install will probably be something like:

Killer Bee oil pickup tube and baffle.
Full race header
TGV deletes
750 or 850cc injectors
Hard turbo inlet
An intake of some kind (probably COBB + box)
Hybrid boost control setup with electronic and manual boost controllers

Then get it tuned immediately after.

It just makes sense to do it that way.

All that, and it'll still be slower than my car out on the track.
