Type R swap in a dc2

My bud is switching out his blown b18b for a b18c5. Mmmmmm c5. What ecu should he run, and should he run everything obd2 and use a harness to get back to 1 or change it all over to 1.

Get an OBD 1 harness, distributor, and injectors and run a P28, P30 or P72 with mapped for the B18C5. That is if you wanna run OBD 1.

If you wanna OBD II, use the OBD II harness and the P73 ECU that came with the swap.

Definitely. You can run a standalone ECU like Hondata. IIt's a lot easier to tune for OBDI and if you decide to make lots of power later on, you'll need to switch to OBDI to run a standalone anyway.

If he gets a USDM B18C5 with engine harness, he can plug it right it then run a chipped P28. Just wire vtec.
