Yep it sux real bad. I used to travel a lot for work, sometimes with extended stays. So, I've had card fraud all over the world, lost wallets, lost cell phones, etc.
Tried various things over the years. The end result is 3 checking accounts (at one bank, under one master account), the one I pay bills from has no card, no PIN, no checks printed, all bills paid electronically by me in manual mode except house mortgate which is setup as automatic (no designed external access - yes, of course it can be hacked). Of the other two, no checks printed for them either. One I use for day to day stuff like groceries and gas, dog food and such., the third is for online purchases, and toys, tools, stuff like that. Both these accounts have debit cards, if one gets dorked up I can switch easily.
I carry one credit card and one debit card in my wallet. The others remain locked up at home just in case.
Paycheck goes into a savings account with no card access or PIN. I transfer monies weekly into other accounts as needed.
